When we are contracted to provide a service, we will agree upon a location with the client. We specialize in trips to the Adirondack Mountains and Catskill Mountains of New York, Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well as the Green Mountains of Vermont as these are closest to our home base. However, the location can be just about anywhere in the lower 48 as long as it is accessible by horseback or hiking, and legal to do so. The location may be very specific, using GPS coordinates, or vague, such as a certain mountain range or lakefront. We then agree upon a tentative date for the service, weather permitting. We try to plan most of our trips between the months of May and October, but we may be able to accommodate specific dates outside this time period.
We then apply for all the necessary permits and take possession of the cremains just before we embark on the journey.
Depending on the location, we embark with our horses either the day of or close to the desired date. We drive to the closest trailheads, saddle our horses, and ride to the desired location. The cremains ride in a tightly enclosed, specialty container designed for protection.
At the location, we respectfully carry out whatever instructions you have given us – be they readings, prayers, songs, ect. We then scatter the cremains and give our own blessings. Videotaping is also available if desired.
At the completion of our mission, you will receive a Memorial Photo Image Certificate with the location, date, and name of your loved one – suitable for framing.
